How do I plan to use the iPad in my classroom? That's a question I am not completely prepared to answer. The more I learn about the iPad's capabilities, the more I realize I have no idea about its full potential. There are flashcard apps, textbooks, online lectures, Netflix, PBS, and Kindle. I can hook it up to my SmartBoard projector, check my email, and use it to access my school computer. A colleague of mine was just telling me this morning that there is a free app that can be used to read scanner sheets. Wow.
I know that I have barely dipped my toes into what the iPad can do, but I can honestly say that I am excited about learning more, lots more. I have seen this excitment in the eyes of my colleagues as well. We are starting to seek each other out to share new discoveries with an enthusiasm I don't think I have ever experienced as an educator. It's as if we are adoloscencents privy to a secret with the realization that things are about to blow.
